Solvaria Calls on Richmond’s Technology Community to Give Back to the Future of the Industry
Nov. 2, 2017
Richmond, Va., - Solvaria, Richmond’s only IT consultancy focused exclusively on database services and strategic IT leadership, is celebrating its 20th year in business by calling upon its fellow members of Richmond’s technology community to give back to the future of the industry.
The goal is to raise $1,000 for each year Solvaria has been in business in order to make a $20,000 donation to CodeVa. CodeVa is a nonprofit organization that, through advocacy, teacher training, and direct student programs, partners with schools, parents, and communities to bring equitable computer science education to all of Virginia's students.
More than 20 Richmond-based companies have joined Solvaria in its effort to give back to the future of the industry. The full donation amount will be announced at a charity casino night, hosted by Solvaria, on November 9th at the Hippodrome in Jackson Ward. The event will bring Richmond City Council members and delegates, CEOs, CodeVa board members, other notable policy influencers and friends of CodeVa.

QUOTES:
“Our people are our most important asset at Solvaria,” said Greg Samuels, CEO at Solvaria. “When we looked at our company after 20 years of doing business in Richmond, we realized that in order to continue to succeed as a company, we will constantly need new talent in the technology and computer science fields. That lead us to a partnership with CodeVa, whose goal is to bring computer science education to all Virginia students. We are proud to help them achieve their goal through this donation.”
“Virginia has over 36,000 unfilled tech and computer science jobs with a starting salary of $88,000,” said Chris Dovi, Executive Director at CodeVa. “Computer science education for all of Virginia’s students is a must if we are to remain the Digital Dominion, and we are grateful to Solvaria and the support they have garnered to help us maintain our title.”
