Deployment Planning Services – The (not so) Hidden Benefit of Microsoft Software Assurance

Published on January 20, 2017 by Greg Samuels

When a customer purchases a Microsoft product with Software Assurance under any program except the “Open License,” Microsoft provides Deployment Planning Service days (also known as DPS days) to ensure that your product is installed, configured and properly designed and architected for your environment. This service provides you with a custom deployment plan at the end of the engagement, and is funded (when qualified) by Microsoft.

However, these DPS days must be used within a certain window of time, or they expire. We’ve noticed this high-value offering is one of the more underutilized benefits that our customers have (and have already paid for!).

As a Microsoft Gold Partner, Solvaria consultants are qualified to help you take advantage of these DPS days in a variety of ways, including:

  • Upgrading to SQL Server - Create a deployment plan to take advantage of the features of the latest version of SQL Server, including greater uptime, blazing-fast performance, enhanced security features, managed self-service data exploration, stunning interactive data visualizations, and innovative cloud capabilities to extend solutions across onpremise and public cloud.
  • Deploying SQL Server Business Intelligence - Build a plan to gain access to accurate, up-to-date information for better, more relevant decision-making. Empower information analysis for the right people at the right time.
  • Migrating to SQL Server from Oracle - Reduce TCO by migrating from Oracle database technologies to a Microsoft data platform on Windows. With SSDPS, you can work with an expert consultant to assess your current environment, review architectural considerations, and create a detailed migration plan.
